Garden enthusiast Felicity Jones has teamed up with photographer Mark Smith for a series of works exploring the history of global botanical travel. Coinciding with Tuia Encounters 250 , their photographic exhibition focuses on the stories around how plant material has travelled to and from Aotearoa.
From botanists Banks and Solanders’ native pressings to the huge influx of European plants transported in Wardian Cases, it encompasses the small stories of settlers seeking the reassurance of the ‘Mother Country’ to the wider cultural, economic and environmental issues around botanical globalisation.
See Case Studies at Allpress Studio from Monday October 14, to Friday October 25.
